iTero 5D Intraoral scanners
The iTero 5D Intraoral scanner is a cutting-edge technology that allows us to map out your mouth and jaw and help prepare for braces or Invisalign. It is a compact, handheld, wand scanner that looks like something out of Star Trek.
iTero is a high-tech replacement for traditional dental impressions, which used alginate or other liquid plaster product to create a physical cast of your teeth.
Using an iTero scanner, we can determine the exact position of your teeth and gums, constructs a 3-D image of your mouth, and even predict the expected outcome of your braces or Invisalign treatment!
iTero is quick, easy, and painless. It produces far more detailed and accurate models of your teeth than physical dental impressions.

Digital Imaging
Fowler Dental has a digital panoramic dental x-ray and cephalometric x-ray right here in our office.
A panoramic x-ray (PAN for short) constructs a detailed image of your mouth. Using small and completely harmless doses of ionizing radiation, our PAN displays your entire curved jaw and teeth in a flat, 2-D digital image. These images are used to prepare for treatments such as dentures, braces, implants, extractions, etc.
Additionally, a PAN scan can catch some potentially serious dental problems such as:
- Periodontal disease
- Cysts in the jaw bones
- Tumors
- Oral cancer
- Impacted teeth
- Sinusitis
Â
Whereas our PAN scans your mouth, our cephalometric x-ray (there’s a mouthful!) captures a complete radiographic image of the side of your face. Our CEPH gives a comprehensive view of your teeth, jawbone, and soft tissue. It helps us measure teeth, find fractures or other injuries to the teeth and jaw, and provides crucial information on bite misalignment or malocclusions.Â
Both PAN and CEPH are completely safe and require no prior preparation from patients.

Laser Dentistry
It’s not sci-fi. Since 1989, dentists have been using lasers alongside drills and other physical tools. By focusing light into a narrow, high-intensity beam, a laser can shape tissue, remove damaged tissue, and treat certain gum diseases.
Lasers are used in all kinds of dental procedures. They allow us to:
- Detect cavities by spotting early signs of tooth decay that conventional tools cannot.
- Kill bacteria in a cavity and prepare a tooth for dental fillings.
- Treat tooth sensitivity by heat-sealing tubules on the tooth’s root.
- Reshape gum tissue and bones for healthier and better-looking tooth structure.
- Remove soft tissue folds from dentures with no painful suture needed.
- Remove benign tumors on the gums or sides of lips.
- Treat sleep apnea by reshaping the throat and relieving associated breathing problems.
- Reduce pain and inflammation in the joint connecting the jawbone to the skull
- Treat cold sores and reduce healing time.
- Whiten teeth by speeding up the bleaching process.
Dental lasers are safe, contactless, and painless. They offer more comfortable treatment options for some patients and are often more efficient and cost effective than conventional methods. A laser is like a dentist’s Swiss Army knife; it does it all.

Washing and Sterilization
Fowler takes safety seriously. We employ a number of advanced washing and sterilization methods to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness in our office.
- First, we use the HYDRIM C61W G4 hydromachine automatic instrument washer on all our dental instruments. This device looks and works basically like a high-intensity dishwasher. The HYDRIM hydromachine loads up to 6 full-size cassettes, each of which contains up to 20 instruments, and washes them at 60° C (120° F).
- Not many dental practices use the HYDRIM. However, we at Fowler make it an regular part of our cleaning procedure.
- After washing, we use the A-dec Lexa tabletop steam sterilizer to sterilize all instruments. This device, which sort of looks like a minifridge, sterilizes instruments under steam at temperatures of 121° C (250° F). The process takes 4–30 minutes plus 25–40 minutes for drying and cooling. Up to 18 lbs. of instruments can be sterilized at a time.

A-dec Dental Chairs
We want you to enjoy your time at the dentist. That’s why we only use the latest, top-of-the-line A-dec dental chairs in our office.
These chairs are sleek, supportive, and ergonomic. From the slim-profile headrest to the 9-inch toeboard tilt, they cradle the patient’s whole body and allow for maximum comfort even during long operations. They’re so comfy, you may even fall asleep during a procedure! And with precision hydraulic parts that let the chairs adjust quietly and gently, we promise you won’t be jerked awake.
These chairs also include a ‘virtual pivot’ functionality. This lets them adjust to the natural motions of patients and maintain optimal comfort at all times, even when fully reclined.
